Abstract

It is important to explore the statistical methods on system identification in civil engineering, because of the dispersal in material properties, the complex of the structural system and the random excitations of the environment. The system identification in civil engineering is identified in this study, and five statistical methods are investigated, which are Bayesian Probabilistic Approach, Stochastic Finite Element Method, Statistical Pattern Recognition, Statistical Discrimination of Features for Damage Detection and the other methods. The further developments on statistical methods of system identification in civil engineering are discussed based on the investigations.
