Abstract

Abstract: In order to further research the characteristics of the thin cylindrical shell excited by pulsating flow, considering of damping, geometric nonlinearity and added mass, a nonlinear vibration equation which excited by pulsating flow could be established by using Donnell’s shallow-shell theory. Partial differential equation was transformed into ordinary differential equation by using Galerkin method. By means of the method of the multiple scales, the first approximate solution of the primary resonance of the system was acquired, the transition variety and bifurcation diagram of the unfolding parametric plane were given, then analyzed the singularity and the stability of this system, acquired the region of structure parameter which the system could run stably and reliably . Experiments and numerical simulations of this system were accomplished to study the impact of system parameters, such as the damping, pulsating frequency and the depth of the liquid. As was illustrated, it showed that the nonlinear vibration equation excited by pulsating flow which considering of damping, geometric nonlinearity and added mass was better to reflect the dynamic characteristics, and various bifurcation behaviors existed in the system.
