Abstract

This paper analyzed the transverse dynamic characteristics and frequency-amplitude response properties of the aqueduct system with fluid-structure interaction in details. The analytical results show that: (1) The fluid-structure coupled system has two transverse fundamental frequencies and . With the lower frequency , the structure and fluid of the system vibrate in the same phase angel, and with the higher frequency , the structure and fluid of the system vibrate in the inversed phase angel. (2) When the frequency (or predominant frequency) of the external excitation is close to (or ), the system resonance will occur. The fluid has a vibration amplification effect on the structure. 3) The fluid-structure coupled system has a special frequency . When the frequency (or predominant frequency) of the excitation is close to , the sloshing fluid has a vibration reduction effect on the structure. 4) The water mass in the aqueduct can be divided as a fixed mass and a sloshing mass. The fixed mass will add the structural inertia response, which maybe unfavorable to the structural safety.
