Abstract

Vibration characteristics of a floating raft system constructed with periodic truss structures are analyzed. First, frequency response functions of the new floating raft system are calculated by means of the finite element method and compared with those of the traditional floating raft system. And then, to find out the effect of the periodic truss raft system in reducing vibration transmission, the FRF-based substructure method is utilized to establish the model of an assembled system involving the periodic truss raft, a base structure and equipment. Simulation results indicate that the floating raft with periodic truss structures has a better performance in suppressing vibration transmission than the traditional floating raft. When the new rafting system is applied to isolate machinery vibration along with vibration isolators, the entire isolation system can better reduce vibration transmission in a wide frequency band.
