Abstract

A Structural damage identification method is presented in the paper, which is based on improved damage identification factor and genetic algorithms under noises. Firstly, parametrization for damage identification is introduced, and a new damage identification factor is presented, where different modal messages and weight coefficients are considered. Secondly, Genetic algorithms are improved in several aspects: selection operator, crossover operator and mutation crossover, at the same time, adaptive crossover and adaptive mutation are investigated. And damage identification is performed for a simply supported beam and a continuous beam without the influence of noise, the performance is very well and the validity of the method is verified. Then, two types of noises, random noise and white Gaussian noise, are considered for the simply supported beam, it can be seen that identification performance is well when the noise level is not very high. In the end, based on the baseline finite element model of a steel frame, damage identification is carried out under four damage cases, it can be seen that the performance is excellent, the method can be used in damage identification and health monitoring.
