Abstract

An USM’s supporting structure had much effect on its mechanical characteristics and stability. The rigid supporting structure had obvious damping effect on vibration and could cause large energe lossing. The elastic supporting structure based on flexible vibration-isolating had the shortcomings of either structural limitations or too much flexibility. In order to solve these problems, the idea of the elastic support with abrupt changing configuration for USMs were proposed by using both abrupt changing configuration’s rigid vibration-isolating method and flexible vibration-isolating method. Considering the structural characteristics and the operating modes of the tower-shaped USM, three kinds of the above supporting structure were designed and emulated and “the inner thick-base and crisscross-sheet supporting structure” was adoped as the supporting structure of the tower-shaped USM. The experimental results show that “the inner thick-base and crisscross-sheet supporting structure” offers good supporting and vibration-isolating effect, and the tower-shaped USM with the supporting structure run stably, which offers a maximal velocity with no load of 980mm/s and a maximum output force of 1N.
