Parameters optimization of hydro-pneumatic suspension of heavy mining dumper

Abstract

The optimal design of a single chamber hydro-pneumatic suspension used in a mining dump truck of 360 tons was discussed in this paper. A 5-DOFs mathematic model for the heavy duty truck was derived in consideration of the nonlinear characteristics of hydro-pneumatic suspension and tire damping, which made the model more realistic than traditional vehicle models. Under the loading input of the random road surface and the pulses of road humps, an optimal design model was established where the objective function was defined by the root mean square（RMS）of the vertical acceleration at the gravity center of vehicle body. The numerical analysis was performed to examine the effect of the stiffness and damping of the front and rear suspensions on the vibration response of vehicle body and human body. Finally, the design parameters of the hydro-pneumatic suspension were optimized with a genetic algorithm. The results showed that the RMS of vehicle body vertical acceleration decreases by 25.6%, and the performance satisfied with the requirement of the ISO2631 standard.
