Abstract

With the increasing of railway steel bridge span, the research of flexible layer used in railway is becoming a concern. The high speed train-rail- epoxy asphalt flexible layer-bridge coupling system finite element model is established based on structure composition of railway steel bridge deck and load transfer characteristics. The result of numerical example shows that the peak values of vertical displacement, transversal tension stress, longitudinal tension stress and shear stress between steel deck and flexible layer appear when the center of ZK special live load moves to the quarter of the length between two adjacent diaphragm plates. The maximum vertical displacement appears at the central region of loading, maximum transversal tension stress appears at the corresponding region of side sleepers and longitudinal ribs above and maximum longitudinal shear slip between steel deck and flexible layer appears at the region corresponding to sleepers which are under the load. In addition, tensile strength and shear strength of epoxy asphalt flexible layer system could satisfy the demands of theoretical analysis and specification through laboratory tests. The research results of mechanical response and its distribution law of epoxy asphalt flexible layer under train load can provide theoretical basis for the design of protective layer on similar rail steel bridges.
