Abstract

The softness abrasive flow in structural flow was simulated using VOF(volume of fluid) model and RNG(renormalization group) κ-ε turbulence model, through the proper partition of mesh generated for the structural flow and the special setting of boundary condition, in order to investigate the distribution regularity of pressure field and velocity field and predict the material removal characteristics efficiently in near-wall surface of workpiece. The simulation results show that different entrance location of softness abrasive flow has been having an effect in workpiece machining. The pressure field, the velocity field and the material removal rate of the softness abrasive change with machining positions in the machining range. Module of guide flow is brought in as pressure value and velocity value change sharply in entrance region. The simulation results agree well with the experiment data, the numerical simulation provides a theory basis for further study of basic flow rules of softness abrasive flow.
