Abstract

A 100-mm –diameter split Hopkinson pressure bar(SHPB) apparatus was adopted to investigate the behavior of concrete exposed to 200 ℃,400 ℃,600 ℃ and 800 ℃, the dynamic compressive stress-strain curves are obtained, the effects of striking velocity, temperature on the average strain rate and temperature, average strain rate on the dynamic compressive strength were analyzed. The results show that, both of the relationships between striking velocity and average strain rate and between average strain rate and dynamic compressive strength are approximately linear. The effect of high temperature on dynamic properties is significantly, compared with the specimens testing at room temperature under the same striking velocity, average strain rate of concrete exposure to 200 ℃ increases while dynamic compressive strength decreasing, after a recover at 400 ℃, average strain rate increases along with temperature increment, dynamic compressive strength decreases severely and at 800 ℃ it is less than 30%. High temperature would reduce the strain rate sensitivity of concrete, especially for 400 ℃.
