Abstract

As China’s demand and import for liquefied natural gas (LNG) increased year by year, to build more LNG terminal matching for the requirement is becoming extremely urgent. Extra-large LNG storage tank is belong to lifeline project. If the tank is attacked by conventional weapons, it has unpredictable consequences. However, due to LNG storage tank design method controlled by the few developed countries abroad, and all extra-large LNG projects in China are designed and constructed by foreign companies with no technology transfer, which lead to lack of necessary research and reliable information for China. Outlines the research methods of the conventional weapon and explosion load; then summarizes the antiknock design and research results for nuclear reactor containment which is similar to LNG storage tank, in order to provide references for the antiknock research of the latter; finally, proposes the problem and research demand combined the current research of extra-large LNG storage tank, and expects to provide some assistance to the security research and extra-large LNG tank design research of China.
