Abstract

The seismic performance of core walls is decisive for hybrid structure under strong earthquake. It is worth to study intensively on seismic response analysis under double and multi-direction earthquakes action by choosing appropriate earthquake records. The dynamic time history analysis of core walls was performed. By comparison with the seismic effect under unidirectional earthquake action, the structural internal force under oblique directional seismic action is much stronger and the design results based on unidirectional earthquake records input will be unsafe. The seismic performance of core walls based on single-record IDA method was analyzed under 45 ° with the Y-axis earthquake action. The results indicate that oblique directional earthquake actions have an effect on IDA curves of core walls. However, the displacement limiting values corresponding to different performance levels are close to that under Y-axis single earthquake action.
