Abstract

By means of Green’s function and generalized radiation impedance, the expressions of modal mutual-radiation impedance of two finite cylindrical shells with rigid baffle at each end are investigated based on modal expansion technique. Numerical results are also presented for specified radial velocity distribution. The results show that in low frequency, mutual-radiation impedance coefficients between two finite cylindrical shells is relative large. The peak of mutual-radiation impedance coefficients with same axial wave number is larger than that with different axial wave number; Radiation resistance and reactance coefficients become small when the difference of p and m increases; Mutual-radiation impedance generally decreases with increasing of the length of two finite cylindrical shells or the distance of two finite cylindrical shells. It offers the theoretical basis for analyzing the sound characteristics of multi-cabin cylindrical shells.
