Dynamic response and shock resistance of layered claddings subjected to a non-contact underwater explosion
Coating rubber claddings onto the wet surface of a ship is a widely used and very effective way on improving its UNDEX resistance. In this paper, on the background of the ship protection and conception of functionally graded materials, dynamic response and shock resistance of four layered honeycomb claddings subjected to a non-contact underwater explosion have been investigated. First, three groups of rubber test data were fitted with the hyperelastic constitutive models in ABAQUS finite-strain package. Then, the proper model was chosen. Moreover, the influence of shock wave amplitude, cell radius and arrangement were analyzed. The results play an instructive role in understanding the dynamic behavior and protective mechanisms of claddings and provide a guideline to the selection and further optimal design when subjected to UNDEX.
