Abstract

A linear piezoelectric actuator was adopted as the arming component in electromechanical fuze safety system to achieve the muzzle safety distance controllability. The principle of piezoelectric actuator was analyzed, and the actuator operation mode in fuze safety system was presented. The influence of typically environmental forces on the actuator in the service and launch process were analyzed in theory. The AVEX impact test-bed was utilized to perform the impact test to the actuator. The results showed that the that the piezoelectric actuator can withstand the impact inertia force of 15.25m height dropping to the armor plate during service process; in the dynamic launch process, resist the centrifugal force under 15000 r/min projectile speed and make the slider move in place, and bear the 15000g blowback acceleration. The study results provide a theoretical basis for the piezoelectric actuator application in the fuze safety system, simultaneously the scheme introduces a novel idea for the muzzle safety distance controllability.
