Numerical Study on The Impact Performance of Concrete Filled FRP-Steel Tubes
The concrete filled FRP-steel tube is a composite structure made by filling concrete into steel tube and wrapping outside with fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) sheet. Finite element method has been conducted to study the dynamic responses of concrete filled FRP-steel tubes under varied impact-loading styles, considering the influences of kinds of FRP, the orientation of FRP sheets and the thickness of both FRP and steel tubes. The force and displacement histories have been recorded and analysed. The numerical results show that the application of FRP remarkably improved the anti-impact property of the structures especially for longitudinal oriented CFRP. The simulation strategy is proved by comparing numerical data with experimental results of concrete filled steel structures.
