Abstract
Ultrasonic gear honing is a precision machining method of gears with good prospect application, and design of its vibration system is a key technique. Through analyzing the coupling relationship between the horn and the plate, the vibration system is reasonably simplified. On this basis, a new design method for vibration system is put forward by combining boundary conditions, Furthermore, using the method, the horn is designed and the dynamical characteristics of gear and horn is analyzed. Comparison among the calculation results with element analysis and experiments shows that the proposed theoretical model is reasonable and feasible, and the calculation results in the examples is closer to measured results then finite element analysis results. The corresponding conclusions have some degree of guiding significance in designing vibration system of ultrasonic gear honing.
