Abstract

Cables with helix are different with smooth cables in aerodynamic performance. Based on the former research of rain-wind-induced vibration, this paper studies the aerodynamic performance of inclined cables with different helix parameters in wind tunnel of Chang'an University by pilot tube, electronic pressure scanning valve, data conversion and collection systems. Conclusions are drawn as follows: (1) Put plate around 2cm away from the free end of models can simulate two-dimensional flow well;(2) While pressure near the spiral mutation irregularly, pressure distribution patterns, pressure stops, upper and lower flow separation point position of the cable surface do not change with helix parameters; (3) Drag coefficient decreases with the increases of helix distance and the height deduce of helix. Meaningful references are provided for the further refinement research on the aerodynamic performance of cables with vibration-suppression measures.
