Measurement of Airborne Sound Insulation: Comparison of Sound Pressure method with Sound Intensity Method
The sound intensity not only can be applied to the measurement of sound power and of noise source identification but sound insulation in buildings and of building elements. The progress of measurement of sound insulation using sound intensity in buildings and of building elements is introduced, and then the prospect of the sound intensity method is pointed out combination with the national standard for evaluating green building, and the estimated precision has been discussed. The Airborne sound insulations of four specimens are measured using both methods in the laboratory. The experiments show that the two methods have the same result in the whole frequency range basically, but deviation in the specific low frequency band. The estimated precision and the cause of the deviation are analyzed.
