Research on S-shaped Tip Vane Impact on Frequency of Vibration about Wind Wheel
The tests of the static and dynamic frequency of the wind wheels about the small horizontal axis wind turbine which the diameters were 1.4m were done by using the PULSE16.1 system when the s-shaped tip vanes were installed or not, and each order frequency about the wind wheel was identified by the static frequency data and the spectral-analysis method. The study found that the 2-order static frequency decreased due to the tip vanes, the attenuation of the 2-order-vibration amplitude was bigger than the 1-order-vibration amplitude and the attenuation of the symmetric vibration frequency of the same order vibration was bigger than the antisymmetric vibration frequency. The s-shaped tip vanes can significantly adjust the difference between the antisymmetric vibration frequency and the symmetric vibration frequency of the 2-order vibration. The curve trend of the 1-order and 2-order vibration frequency can be changed effectively by the tip vanes, thus it can effectively adjust the enter speed and the break away speed of the resonance region, and this has important significance for the design of the best speed and avoiding resonance of the wind wheel. The s-shaped tip vanes had little effect on the vibration frequency of the disc effect and the axial movement, but the 1 octave curve is always accompanied by the dynamic frequency curve of the disc effect in a large area of speed range, and the dynamic frequency curve was in the 1 octave vibration band. This discovery may provide some new explanation about why the fatigue damage accident of the blades occurs frequently in the period which is much shorter than the design life.
