The study on penetration behavior of composite laminated plates
The penetration behavior of a fiber reinforced composite laminated plate was simulated by using ABAQUS/Explicit finite element code. The influences of projectile geometries, fiber orientation and layers on ballistic performance had been analysised. The damage characteristic and mode for different projectile geometries were given, and the ballistic limit was obtained. It was shown that the simulation results were in good correlation with theories and available experimental results. These can be referred to engineering practice.
