Abstract

Using bridges as scales to weigh trucks in motion is a novel method of getting velocity, axle load and other truck information. Focusing on the dynamic strain of different sections of bridge, the peak algorithm and the least square method are employed to indentify running speed, wheelbase and indentify axle load, respectively. In addition, the gradient method was used to optimize the initial recognition results. The bridge-vehicle coupling vibration is modeled to simulate the dynamic strain responses and numerical analyses are also carried out to deal with the results. Obtained results turn out that the local optimization to initial recognition results which already have a certain precision can further improve the accuracy to meet the engineering requirement for precision.
