Abstract

In this paper, the discrimination of nuclear explosion and lightning electromagnetic pulse is studied using multi-fractals analysis for EMP signal having nonstationary and nonlinear characteristics. The multi-fractals general dimension and the variation ratio of of nuclear explosion and lightning electromagnetic pulse are calculated. Through analysis it is founded that the rate of change of general dimension is more reflection the difference mechanism of nuclear explosion and lightning, compared with general dimension; and the discrimination of NEMP and LEMP based on the rate of change of general dimension is higher and more stability than that based on general dimension.
