Abstract

The airbag buffer technology is widely used in vehicle, aerospace, military and other industries. Based on the nonlinear finite element code LS-DYNA, this paper established the finite element model of the omni-directional and multi-chamber airbag soft landing system. The model was valid judging from the experiment results and the simulation analysis of soft landing process was completed. Subject to rational design conditions, we studied the cushion characteristics on omni-directional and multi-chamber airbag and analyzed the influences of the initial airbag pressure, airbag diameter, diaphragm inner hole diameter and vent diameter on cushion properties. The results can be used to guide omni-directional and multi-chamber airbag landing system design.
