Abstract

In this paper, critical speeds of types of rotor, integral rotor supported by rolling bearings and welded rotor supported by magnetic bearings, for high speed motor are investigated. The finite element models are built based on analyses of the different supporting stiffness and the different rotor assembly. The influences of different supports and rotor assembly on bearing-rotor system are discussed. At last, the experimental results from the impact experiments of the free rotor and the prototype motor agree well with the calculation results, which show the validity of the FEM models used in the analysis. The results of this paper are very useful for design and rotor-dynamic analysis of high speed rotors.
