Abstract

The acoustic samples of passenger car when its engine starting taken at the position of the driver’s ear are selected as the object to calculate and analyze its time-frequency distribution, physical parameters and psychoacoustics parameters. Subjective testing is carried out via the paired comparison method. The subjective preference scores of samples are concluded. The results through linear correlation and multi-dimensional regression analysis show that the psychoacoustic annoyance (PA) can predict the preference evaluation correctly, and loudness and roughness strength are the dominant metrics influencing the preference evaluation of interior sound of passenger car when its engine starting, and the equation with logarithmic transformation describes the relationship between subjective preference scores and objective parameters preferably.
