Active control of power flow in the three dimensional coupled timoshenko beam

Abstract

The power flow propagation and active control in the three dimensional coupled beam structure are studied. Firstly, based on the Timoshenko beam theory, the kinetic model of three dimensional coupled beam structure is established by travelling wave method, which includes flexural, longitudinal and torsional waves, and the accurate dynamic response is obtained; Then power flow transmission of structure is determined, and the effect of longitudinal and torsional waves on total power flow results is analyzed; The active power flow is taken as the objective function, and optimized control force amplitude and phase are gained with an optimization algorithm, which are applied to the structure. Ultimately, active control of power flow for three dimensional coupled beam structure is realized; The numerical simulation is made and the results show: The dynamic response of three dimensional coupled beam structure by travelling wave method is accurate and reliable; longitudinal and torsional waves should be taken into accounting for calculating the total power flow of three dimensional coupled beam structure; In comparison to the Euler-Bernoulli beam model, the Timoshenko beam model including the effects of shear distortion and rotary inertia is adopted to make the results more accurate, especially in the medium and high frequency ranges; Active control of power flow can efficiently reduce the vibrational power flow of three dimensional coupled beam structure in the frequency domain and spatial domain, and the small error of the optimal control force and the locations of the error sensor have slight effects on the control results.
