Abstract
A dynamic model of the herringbone gear transmission system is developed considering the time-varying mesh stiffness, gear errors, the stiffness and damping of plain bearing. The time domain and frequency domain of dynamic bearing force are obtained by solving the dynamic model using Fourier Series Method. Taking the dynamic bearing force as excitation, the noise radiation of the gearbox is calculated by using FEM/BEM, and then the noise spectrums of different acoustic field points are obtained. The inherent property of the gearbox and excitation of each frequency component that influence the noise of the gearbox are analyzed. The factors that affect the noise of the gearbox are computed , the effect of operating load, mesh stiffness and gear error on vibration and noise radiation are discussed, and then the rule of noise radiation with operating load, mesh stiffness and gear error are obtained. The studies will provide useful theoretical guideline to the design of gearbox.
