Abstract

The vibration excited by the unbalance is harmful to the rotating machinery. Therefore, the balancing procedure is required to eliminate the excess unbalance. In order to achieve an online balancing a new type of mechanical active balancing actuator is studied. The balancing actuator is packed with 9 round plates forming 4 separated chambers. Through an elaborative structure design the small steel balls may be transferred conveniently from the outer stator into one of the four chambers in the actuator thus the correction weight is generated. The detailed working principle is introduced. The influence coefficient based online balancing method is developed. The experimental setup is described and built up. Through experiment the feasibility of the balancing actuator is proved.
