Abstract

Pressure measurement tests of CAARC standard tall buildings whose blockage ratios were 4.1%, 6.1%, 8.4% and 10.1% were respectively carried out in the uniform flow. Root-mean-square, power spectrum and spatial correlation and coherence of pressure coefficients on surfaces of each building were compared. The main phenomena of blockage effects of fluctuating pressures on single rectangular tall building were summarized and were interpreted by the flow. Blockage effects not only restrained the flow around and behind the building, changed the patterns of vortex shedding and influenced the root-mean-square of fluctuating pressure coefficients of locations where were prone to separation and vortex shedding, but also changed power spectrum, spatial correlation and coherence of the pressure coefficient on building surfaces.
