Abstract

Based on the theory of computational fluid dynamics, the aerodynamic coefficients of high-speed train running on simply supported box-girder bridge with double lines were computed by numerical simulation, and the train attack angle caused by the track super elevation, lateral position of train on the bridge, the height of wind barriers and wind incidence angle were considered. The overturning coefficient of train was defined according to the load-bearing characteristics of train running on various horizontal curve lines, and the allowable value of overturning coefficient was set referenced on related criterions. Under the condition that the crosswind velocity was 30m/s, the overturning coefficients of train with various velocities running on bridge with wind barriers of various heights were calculated, and the optimal heights of wind barriers were selected accordingly. The results show that the aerodynamic coefficients when train on windward line are larger than that on the leeward line, the lift force coefficients will increase as the increasing of attack angle of train when the wind barriers are relatively low. The overturning coefficients for windward wheel/rail contact axis and leeward wheel/rail contact axis vary oppositely with both running velocity and the height of wind barriers, and the optimal height of wind barriers is selected according to the overturning coefficients of leeward axes. The required heights of wind barriers when train on the windward line are higher than that on the leeward line, which means that the windward line is the control line to double-lines bridge for selecting wind barriers. To the curve where dominant wind direction is stable, the optimal height of wind barriers increase with the increasing of running velocity when the crosswind from the inside of curve, the rule is opposite when the crosswind from the outside of curve. To the curve where dominant wind direction is not stable, the height of wind barriers should be the maximum of the required height of wind from both the inside and the outside of the curve.
