Abstract

A method to analyze transmission errors of spiral bevel gears with real tooth surfaces, was proposed based on the spiral bevel gear system dynamics, geometric properties. The dynamic transmission errors, considering material damping, rotational speed and inertia, etc, were being analyzed on the software of ABAQUS. By comparing the two kinds of dynamic transmission errors caused by actual tooth surfaces (tooth surfaces with errors) meshing and theoretical tooth surfaces meshing, the result shows that tooth surface errors have greater impact on the dynamic transmission errors. A situation was found by changing the rotational speed of the gear: the faster gears turn, the greater fluctuation of transmission error values become. Adding elastic support system, value of the transmission errors become larger and amplitudes fluctuate stronger . The results provide a significant direction for control of vibration and noise for spiral bevel gear system.
