Abstract

The excitation force generated by fluid in annular seal is an important factor for instability of centrifugal pump rotor-seal system. In this paper, centrifugal pump rotor-seal system dynamic model was established by Muszynska nonlinear seal model, and the second-order differential equations were transformed into the first order differential equations by using fourth-order Runge-Kutta method. The shooting method was combined with Floqout theory to study the stability and bifurcation of centrifugal pump rotor-seal system under different seal conditions. The results show that the system is stable with lower rotor speed, and the Hopf bifurcation and quasi-periodic motion emerged with rotor speed increasing. Further research proves that system stability is closely related to sealing parameters. The stability of centrifugal pump rotor-seal system improves with the differential pressure increasing as well as the seal gap and seal length decreasing. The results provide theoretical basis for the design of centrifugal pump rotor-seal system and qualitative control of system stability.
