Abstract

It was simulated that the explosion-proof water walls and explosion-proof concrete walls were subject to blast wave, the mitigation effects of the two explosion-proof walls were compared and the energy conversion in each substance were analyzed, finally, the main factors which influences the mitigation effect of explosion-proof water walls were discussed. The results show that both of the two types of explosion-proof walls have strong ability to mitigate the shock wave, the peak total energy of the explosion-proof water walls in the process of interaction with the blast wave is an order of magnitude than the explosion-proof concrete walls. The water only dissipates limited energy of the explosion products and the shock wave. The water walls rely more on the mass and inertia of the water body to achieve the purpose of explosion-proof. The mass ratio of water and explosive has a certain influence on the mitigation effect of explosion-proof water walls, the larger the mass ratio of water and explosive, the better the mitigation effect of water on the impulse of shock waves.
