Abstract

Taking into account the error distribution on tooth surface, the mesh stiffness and composite meshing error are calculated based on the loaded tooth contact model. The transverse-rotational coupled dynamic model for a spur gear pair is built considering the excitations of time-varying mesh stiffness, gear error and meshing impact. Then the effects of different tooth profile deviations (convex profile, concave profile, positive pressure angle errors and negative pressure angle errors) on system vibration are investigated. The results show that the concave profile always produces largest dynamic load, and the profile with negative pressure angle errors for driven gear brings largest vibration except convex profile. In most load conditions, the positive pressure angle errors have smaller vibration than negative ones and the convex profile produces smaller dynamic load than ideal profile. The results can provide effective references for establishing the control principles of gear machining errors.
