Abstract

In order to analyze the dynamics of drive axle gear transmission system more accurately, and help reduce vibration and noise of drive axle products, an efficient strategy based on nonlinear bearing theory, finite element method and modal synthesis method is proposed to analyze drive axle gear transmission dynamic system with the effects of housing, the whole drive axle transmission dynamic finite element model includes final drive gear transmission assembly, differential gear transmission assembly, hub assembly and housing etc. is built, modal analysis of whole system is executed, the response of the system to a unit harmonic transmission error at the hypoid gear mesh is calculated, effects of housing on the gear transmission dynamics is discussed. An example of dynamic analysis of a rear drive axle gear transmission system shows that the effects of housing to the dynamics of drive axle gear transmission system are significant.
