Abstract

A new method of adaptive multiple order tracking (AMOT) in rotating machinery is proposed based on instantaneous frequency estimation with adaptive peak search algorithm. Firstly, the time-frequency distribution is obtained by time-frequency analysis method. According to the frequency peak coordinate, the starting point of peak search is selected automatically and time-frequency peaks of different orders are searched adaptively. Secondly, the different frequency components are fitted to achieve instantaneous frequency estimation by using the least square polynomial, and then the resample time is calculated according to the reference component to resample the original signal. Finally multi-order tracking spectrums are obtained by FFT transform. By the method of instantaneous frequency estimation, the proposed method can automatically identify all-order components and choose the best one, avoiding the human error of traditional algorithm to choose reference component and starting point subjectively. The method can identify the components of different order without synchronization speed signal, and greatly simplify the application conditions and improve the accuracy of analysis. It provides a new method for fault diagnosis of rotating machinery. The method is proved to be effective by simulation example and practical application.
