Dynamic test and numerical simulation of reinforced concrete beams

The effects of loading rate that might be experienced during earthquakes on reinforced concrete beams are experimentally and numerically studied in this paper. First, the effects of loading rate on the mechanical and deformation properties of reinforced concrete beams are experimentally studied with different parameters, including concrete strength, steel strength, shear span ratio, loading rate and loading mode. Then, based on the finite element program ABAQUS, considering the strain rate sensitivity of concrete and steel, dynamic responses of reinforced concrete beams under different loading conditions are simulated, and the simulation results agree well with the test results.
