Abstract

The nonlinearity index of signal is defined based on intra-wave modulation and the nonlinear characteristics for hunting instability of high-speed EMU with drive system controlled by direct torque is studied. First, a electromechanical coupling co-simulation model consists of a vehicle dynamics simpack submodel of high speed EMU and a Matlab/Simulink submodel of drive system with direct torque control strategy is built. Then the EMU is driven by motors and the dynamics response is calculated. Finally, the nonlinearity index of dynamics response is calculated based on Huang Transform. The simulation indicates: when hunting motion instability happens, the index of nonlinearity for lateral vibration of bogie and car body increases dramatically, the degree of nonlinearity for car body lateral acceleration and bogie lateral displacement exceeds 0.1 and 0.3, respectively.
