Calculation of the Vertical Bending Vibration Frequencies of the PC Continuous Box Girder with Corrugated Steel Webs with Uniform Cross-section

Abstract

In order to calculate the vertical bending vibration frequencies for the multi-span PC continuous box girder with corrugated steel webs (CSWs) with uniform cross-section, using the energy variation principle, Hamilton principle and the force method equations, the equations of vertical bending vibration frequency are established. The influences of shear lag effect, shear deformation of CSWs effect and the coupling effect of the two are included in the equations of vertical bending vibration frequency. By solving the equations of vertical bending vibration frequency, the calculation formulas of the bending vibration frequencies of the PC continuous box girder with CSWs are obtained. Combined with results of the finite element analysis and the measured values obtained from both the indoor model test girder and built bridge, the validity of the formulas are proved. The influences of shear lag effect, shear deformation of CSWs, shear modulus correction, the variation of width-span ratio and different wave patterns of CSWs on the vertical bending vibration frequencies of this type bridge also are analyzed. These conclusions can provide the valuable references for calculating the vertical bending vibration frequencies of multi-span PC continuous box girder with CSWs with uniform cross-section in practice.
