Abstract

With the development of noncircular gears in high speed and heavy load field, the dynamic problems increasingly come out. For the nonlinear angle relationship of the noncircular gears, a modeling approach is presented based on separation of elastic rotation angle. Firstly according to the transmission feature of noncircular gears, the generation of the internal excitation is analyzed, with the calculation method given. Then on the basis of lumped parameter theory, the torsional vibration model of the noncircular gears is built with the elastic rotation angle as independent variables, which includes time-varying stiffness, meshing damping,teeth error and nonlinear excitation of noncircular gears. Finally through high accuracy Rounge-Kutta method, the effect of the internal excitations of a pair of elliptical gears on the dynamic response is investigated under different working conditions quantitatively. The results have great theory significance and utility value on understanding and improving the complicated dynamic characteristics of noncircular gears.
