Free vibration analysis of coupled cylindrical shells with springs-lumped mass

Abstract

The free vibration of coupled cylindrical shell with a plurality of springs-lumped mass for simply supported boundary condition is investigated by substructure receptance method. The coefficients of matrix elements of sub-structures and theory formulas of natural frequencies and modals for coupled cylindrical shell are obtained via receptance method, and are compared with those of other literatures to confirm the validity of the theories in this paper, according to existing results and derivation for equivalent stiffness of springs. The numerical results, for natural frequencies and modals of coupled cylindrical shell with three springs-lumped mass, obtained from the present method are compared with those from the finite element software ANSYS to confirm the reasonability and accuracy of the theories again due to error ignored.
