Dynamic characteristics of cracked pipe conveying fluid under commonly spring-supported at ends

Abstract

The dynamic characteristics of cracked pipes conveying fluid with both ends supported elastically is studied. The vertical vibration modal function of the cracked pipe is derived from the general beam mode function by adding acubic polynomial.The influence of elastic supporting coefficients, mean flow velocity, angle of circumference of crack and the crack position on natural frequencies and critical instability flow velocity is simulated andanalyzed based on the eigenequation of the piping system. The numerical results show that the natural frequencies and the critical instability flow velocity vary complicatedly as a result of the crack existing on the surface of pipe.
