Tests for aseismic behavior of prestressed fabricated precast concrete beam-column joints subjected to cyclic loading

Abstract

Here, a new type of fully fabricated prestressed concrete beam and high-strength reinforced concrete column joints with end plate bolting was presented. Tests for selected beam-column joints under cyclic loading were performed. Six prefabricated prestressed fabricated intermediate connection specimens and a cast-in-situ connection specimen were tested comparatively. Performances of the tested specimens were evaluated in terms of failure mode, load- displacement hysteresis curves, skeleton curve, ductility factor, stiffness degradation, and energy dissipation capacity, etc. The results showed that the tested specimens exhibit a strong column-weak beam failure mechanism; the load- displacement hysteresis curves of the prefabricated prestressed fabricated intermediate joints under low cyclic loading are plump, the specimens ductility, energy dissipation capacity and aseismic performance are better, their stiffness degradation rules are similar to each other. The results provided a theoretical basis and a technical support for extending the application of prestressed reinforced concrete frame structures in seismic zones.
