Abstract

The contact interface normal stiffnesses are generally measured with the ultrasonic and image methods in engineering application, but the effects of different detection methods on the results are not studied deeply. Here, test platforms were designed and built to measure contact interface normal stiffnesses with ultrasonic and image simultaneously. The experimental results showed that the stiffness measured results with the image method are lower than those with the ultrasonic method, the former is more close to the finite element simulation results. Furthermore, the effects of the two detection methods on the results were analyzed. The study results provided a reference for selecting an appropriate detection method in engineering application.
