Abstract

The match of experimental/theoretical model of complex structure is an important part in modal parameter modification. To measure and obtain the best information, a clustering optimal method of sensor placement is proposed. This method can effectively avoid redundancy by using a limited number of sensors. According to the similarity of the mode shape values in important modes, the DOFs are auto-clustered by using k-means clustering algorithm. The effective independent method is used to search the sensor locations with the highest modal resolution from each cluster. Finally, the numerical analysis of a cantilever beam and a cantilever plate and the modal test of a filter wheel assembly are carried out to verify the optimization method. The result shows that this method can effectively select the independent sensitive locations, and its search efficiency is much higher.
