Abstract

A dynamic model coupling the ranging arm housing and gear transmission system is proposed to investigate the influence of deformation of ranging arm housing on gear dynamic. At first, the cutting unit is subdivided into ranging arm housing, planar gear, planetary gear, shaft, asynchronous motor, and drum, and dynamic model of each substructure is developed. Then, the dynamic sub-structuring method (DSM) is employed to get the substructure models coupled by considering the substructure interfaces compatibility conditions. After that, take a certain 300kW drum shearer for example, the overall deformation of ranging arm as well as its effect on equivalent mesh misalignment under rated condition are studied. The deformation tracing shows that the equivalent mesh misalignment of duplicate gear is mostly influenced by the shaft, while the idle gear is mostly influenced by the ranging arm housing.
