Design of Vibration System with Ultrasonic Lapping Gear and Its Experiment

Abstract

Ultrasonic vibration lapping gear is a new fine finishing technology which is superior to the traditional lapping method, which can improve the material removal rate, produces a better tooth surface quality and reduce the noise of gear pair, The design of vibration system is one of the key technologies to realize the ultrasonic lapping process. In this paper, the theoretical model of ultrasonic lapping vibration system is established based on wave propagation theory, the dynamic characteristics of the combination of horn and spiral bevel gears in the vibration system are analyzed., the resonance frequency and amplitude characteristics of the vibration system are obtained by an example analysis. And the modal analysis and harmonic response analysis are carried out by using ANSYS. Finally, the experimental verification is carried out by means of impedance analysis and vibration performance testing. The results show that the theoretical resonant frequency, the finite element analysis frequency, the experimental test frequency and the design frequency are compared respectively, the solution error is 0.05%, 0.11% and 1.42%, no more than 1.5%, and the displacement amplitude of the small end face for the spiral bevel gear is very similar, which can meet the requirement of engineering application. These results can lay a solid foundation for the industrial application of this new kind of fine processing method.
