Random seismic response of multilayer vibration isolation structure with supporting of Maxwell damper

Abstract

The analytical solution of stochastic seismic response and the steady state response of multi-storey base isolation structures which isolation layer attached with supporting of five parameters of Maxwell damper are studied. Firstly, the upper structure is expanded by the first vibration mode. By using the accurate analysis model of tntegral type with supporting of five parameters of Maxwell damper, the non-extended accurate model in time domain of the structure is realized by using the integral-differential equations. Then, by using transfer matrix method, the analytic expressions in original structural space for displacement, velocity and damper transient response of multilayer isolation structure in time domain due to arbitrary excitation are obtained. Finally, based on the analytical solutions, the random response variance of displacement, velocity and damper’s force of the multilayer isolation structure under the Kanai-Tajimi stationary filtered white noise excitation are obtained. Therefor, a complete set of analytical method for the stochastic response of the multilayer isolation structure under the Kanai-Tajimi filtered white noise excitation is established and a numerical example is given.
