Abstract

A new three-dimensional seismic isolation device based on mechanical properties including deformation and energy dissipation of lead core rubber bearings was proposed. The progress of its three-dimensional seismic isolation was introduced. The components and mechanic properties of the device were described. The theoretical calculation formulas for its stiffness and damping were derived. The model of the 3D rotational seismic isolation device was designed, and its vertical compression tests were performed. The test results showed that the three-dimensional seismic isolation device is reasonably designed with a clear force transmission mechanism; it has a suitable vertical stiffness and a good energy-dissipating capacity; the designed data and test data of its vertical stiffness agree well each other.
